Less than a year after being crowned All-Ireland B football champions, a Roscommon Town-based school is already making an impact at a higher level. The Convent of Mercy senior ladies’ football team defeated High Cross College, Tuam, earlier this week to qualify for the 2023/2024 Connacht A final in January. Last March, the senior ladies’ football team landed the school’s first All-Ireland title since 2009 when they overcame Mercy Mounthawk, Tralee, in their Senior B football championship final. Aisling Hanly was the team captain, while Siofra Hession scooped the Player of the Match award.
